What originally got me into Military surplus . It was 60 years ago in primary school I had heard of people in my area who had died from exposure . My childish brain couldn`t comprehend why a person would die merely from being outside in cold weather . So I used to escape through my bedroom window at night on the worst night of the year and go feral . I wore a WW2 army great coat . I always returned home next day . Somebody said he`d died last friday when it was hot , nobody spoke of that again . I do remember that friday I happened to be working nearby unloading by hand two semitrailers of bagged cement in 120 F I remember getting dizzy and my legs were like jelly . I was seventeen then .
