Malta adopted their current flag in 1964 upon achieving independence from the United Kingdom. A representation of the George Cross which was awarded to all of Malta by King George VI of the United Kingdom is represented in the top left corner of the flag.

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
