The flag of the Central African Republic was adopted in 1958. Its red and blue colours represent its French heritage, while the yellow and green colours represent its African heritage. The red strip down the middle combines them to show unity. The yellow star represents the countries independence.

The flag has a white strip on the side with two metal eyelets.
